Tanalith® E is a water-based, high pressure wood preservative that is industrially applied. When impregnated into the timber through a high pressure process, Tanalith® E components bond with the wood structure and cannot easily be removed, helping to significantly extend its service life.
A unique combination of copper and organic biocides, Tanalith® E has over three decades of real-world performance and testing across numerous aggressive, independent field trials.
Timber treated with Tanalith® E is suitable for Use Classes 1-4. It can be used in internal and external building applications and outdoors, both in ground contact and above the ground, without any need for further protection. To help you specify treated timber, we have produced the Tanalised® Timber Smart Guide – find out more
Tanalith® E treated timbers have an initial pale green colour as standard and upon external exposure, will slowly weather to a warm, honey brown and, in the longer-term to a natural silver grey colour. To add colour to the treated timbers, we offer Tanatone® and Tanalith® Lifestyle.
Timber treated with Tanalith® E is trademarked as Tanalised® timber. Over the years, due to the success of Tanalith® E, the word ‘Tanalised’ has been used to refer to treated timber. Other treated timbers may not offer the same long-term performance credentials as Tanalised® timber. So if you are planning a project, make sure that the timber you are specifying has genuinely been treated with Tanalith® E wood preservative.
