Where possible, treated timber is transitioning across Europe to non-metal wood preservatives to help promote reuse and recyclability at end-of-life, and to lower the impact at manufacture stage (i.e. raw material extraction). To help with this transition, we are excited to launch Resistol® 6220.
A metal-free, multipurpose wood preservative, Resistol® 6220 is currently BPR authorized in several European countries. It is a cost effective, efficacious treatment for construction timbers in Use Class 1 or Use Class 2 situations, with long-lasting termite protection.
Softwood timbers treated with Resistol® 6220 are targeted to meet the requirements of Use Classes 1 and 2. These two Use Classes are defined in EN335:2013 as follows:
· Use Class 1 - internal building timbers - no risk of wetting.
· Use Class 2 - internal building timbers - risk of occasional wetting.
· Plywoods – the most suitable for Resistol® 6220 is plywood to EN 636 Exterior Grade (EN 314 Part 2 bonding class 3)
· Internal Building Timber - structural elements and general timbers in domestic, commercial and public buildings, such as wall frames, beams, joists, subfloors and roof timbers.
Resistol® 6220 is currently BPR authorized in several European counties for Use Class 1 and Use Class 2 applications, via dip, deluge or spray application.
In France, it has obtained CTB-P+ accreditation in France.

As Resistol® 6220 is a clear treatment, colour markers can be added to the treatment process to provide reassurance that the timber has been treated. These Treatment Markers provide an initial colour strike which can last up to six months.
